**By The Meat Mafia (Harry Gray and Brett Ender)**

*This was part three of a long day with Ali Miller. We'd already recorded two conversations about her book, Naturally Nourished Kids, and she still had a whole lecture in her back pocket on environmental toxins. We asked for it.*

Ali built that talk for a conference at Roam Ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas. The idea was simple: connect the dots between environmental toxicity, food and nutrition, so people could see a problem and a practical answer side by side.

We came in with a worry of our own. Brett said up front that a lot of what's out there on detox, EMFs, microplastics and glyphosate tips into fearmongering. Ali agreed the exposures are real. She just didn't want anyone leaving the conversation scared.

Then she got to microplastics, which she calls gnarly. She talked about how far beyond the plastic water bottle they go: vinyl, spandex in workout clothes, the lining of cans. It is the kind of list that makes you want to give up. Her answer stuck with us:

> "I never want us to feel like it's too late." (\~27:00)

What follows is her playbook, and most of it costs nothing. Keep the phone off your body. Unplug the router at night. Use a downloaded playlist in the car instead of streaming. Dress in linen and cotton where you can, and make the one-time purchases, like a good shower filter and water filter, that keep working in the background.

The part we keep coming back to is how her own family lives it. One day a week is device-free: records instead of streaming, no shows, no social, no searching. When her daughter wanted to look up a dog cake recipe for their German shepherd's birthday, the answer was the recipe books, or wait until tomorrow.

> "it creates discipline and I think that that's really important" (\~24:00)

On the food side, she leans on what she calls offense: herbs, spices and polyphenol-rich foods, her lemon, turmeric and ginger shooter, and glycine-rich foods like bone broth, pork rinds and gelatin.

That's the Ali Miller we sat down with: a dietitian who takes toxins seriously without letting them run your life. Below is the rest of the conversation, from EMFs to microplastics to glycine. This is her view, not medical advice. Talk to your own clinician before changing your diet or supplements. (Timestamps are approximate.)

**TL;DR:** Ali Miller says EMFs, microplastics and glyphosate are real concerns, but the answer isn't fear. Her approach is defense plus offense: cut exposure where it's easy (phone distance, router off at night, natural fabrics, filters, a weekly device-free day) and eat foods rich in polyphenols, antioxidants and glycine. These are her views, not medical advice.

**Who is Ali Miller?** A registered dietitian, founder of Naturally Nourished and author of *Naturally Nourished Kids*. This episode is the third part of our conversation, built from a lecture she gave at Roam Ranch in Fredericksburg on connecting environmental toxicity, food and nutrition.

## Key takeaways

- Her frame is defense (lower exposure) plus offense (nourishing foods), not fear (\~16:00).
- Simple EMF steps: keep the phone off your body, unplug the router at bedtime, download music for the car (\~15:00).
- Her family keeps one device-free day a week (\~24:00).
- She favors linen and cotton clothing and sheets, and one-time buys like shower and water filters (\~29:00).
- For glyphosate, she talks up glycine-rich foods like bone broth, pork rinds and gelatin (\~42:00).

## EMFs: distance and unplugging

Ali points out that phones are tested at a distance from the body, not held in your hand or pocket. Her practical steps: put distance between you and the device, unplug the router when you go to bed, and use a downloaded playlist in the car. She ties it to presence too: a weekly device-free day, and protecting real connection with people.

## Microplastics: fabrics, filters and food

She says microplastics go well beyond water bottles, into vinyl, spandex-heavy athletic wear and can linings. Her swaps: linen and cotton clothing, natural sheets, and filters. She calls these one-purchase decisions. On the food side she talks about polyphenol-rich produce, herbs and spices, plus spirulina and chlorella.

## Glyphosate and glycine

Ali describes glyphosate as a concern for the gut and minerals. Her food-first suggestion is glycine-rich foods: bone broth, pork rinds, skin, and gelatin in gummies or jello. She also mentions that beef protein isolate contains glycine.
